Over the years, Leo has given us countless signs and synchronicities through our feathered friends. There have been red-tailed hawks, ravens, doves, robins, starlings, hummingbirds, bald eagles, blue jays, Northern flickers, and Canadian Geese. And these are just the ones that I can remember.
We’ve been graced by the presence of majestic Bald Eagles in the past. We were fortunate to have an encounter with them again recently. It was our 40th wedding anniversary at mid summer. We went to celebrate this special occasion on the west side of Vancouver Island, a beautiful spot by the Pacific Ocean that is noted for its natural scenery and wildlife. I had invited our son on the trip and I knew that he would be with us. He had been giving us SnS long before the actual trip. On that special date, we’d been travelling most of the day with our friends, driving on land and sailing across the sea. All along the way, we were getting significant SnS, showing that Leo was with us.
It was time for dinner when we arrived. We were happy to find the restaurant where we had made reservations was right on the water. It had stunning views of the surrounding area through floor-to-ceiling windows. I was busy talking with our friends whose daughter turned 18 that day. It was a double celebration. At the end of the meal, my husband asked me to turn around. Through the window, I saw a bald eagle perched on the branch of a tree. It was very visible. My husband said it had been there all through our dinner. We both knew that was our son’s sign for us. Of course he was with us for the occasion. I went out onto the deck and took this first picture.
It was so comforting. Leo loved celebrating every occasion, big or small. He is still very present in our lives. He knows how difficult it is for me, missing him on a day like this. He would come to be with us from wherever he is. That is just like you, Leo! Thank you!
Then, I remembered my husband telling me much earlier that he’d seen a bald eagle fly right past him when we’d arrived at the hotel.
The next morning, we went to the same place for breakfast. We sat at a different table, facing a tiny island across the water. Soon after we ordered our food, we noticed a bald eagle on the top of a tree facing us. He sat so still, as if waiting for us to greet and acknowledge him. Again, I was able to snap a picture.
We were thrilled to get another confirmation from our son that he was with us. We always go places together! These tangible signs are precious gifts from Leo. “I am always with you, Mom and Dad. Congratulations! Happy Anniversary!”
Thank you, our dearest son. We love you, Leo!
