Leo Chan was an exceptional young man whose brief life burned brighter than most, inspiring all of those he met – and many who only knew him from afar. Leo’s parents have helped put this site together as a place to celebrate their son, his legacy, and all that he accomplished in his short time here. It’s a place where you can learn more about bacterial meningitis and how to access the vaccine that prevents it. And, for anyone who has ever lost a child or a loved one, it’s a place where you can gather strength, courage, and hope.

So come on in, stay a while, and spend some time getting to know Leo! For those who knew him, feel free to hang out, remember, and share your favourite stories. By keeping these precious memories alive, we can help inspire others to live their lives with a tremendous sense of purpose, bursting with enthusiasm, and striving to make a difference – just like Leo did.

A Heartfelt Message from Leo’s Mom

It has taken me years to have the heart to read what’s on my son’s laptop. The pictures, videos, writings, and all his records have been there all this time waiting to be revealed.  Leo saved and organized everything that he wanted us to know and all that needs to be shared with the world. We are deeply grateful for his leaving us with this treasure-trove, without which we would not be able to create this website.

Leo’s departure from this earth plane was sudden and unexpected. Nothing could have prepared us for this tragedy. At 19 years of age, he was healthy and strong, vibrant with joy and purpose in life, enjoying his studies and pursuing his dreams of making positive changes in the world.

As gut wrenching as it can be, the pain of our only child’s physical death has acted as a catalyst for our transformation and awakening. We have been searching for answers ever since. Who is Leo and what is he showing us? Who are we and what are we here to do in this life?

Leo has encouraged us to carry on, to love and protect other young people, to prevent a similar tragedy from happening to another family. We carry on, honouring Leo and celebrating his life with every opportunity. Leo has been our source of INSPIRATION in moving forward, with him as our guiding light. Leo is guiding all of you who have come to this website for the first time, to meet him – or, for his friends, to join him for a reunion.

We hope you will enjoy this time getting to know Leo and be inspired by his life story.  Leo cares deeply for people and truly loves this world. His example shows us what Unconditional Love is: The most powerful force in the universe. It can move mountains.

Leo has been and will always be a gift for me and my husband. He continues to teach us the greatest lessons we have to learn. He has shown us Love never dies. Love connects us across time and space. He has shown us there is reason to live on. With Leo as our inspiration, we continue to turn tragedy into transformation, loss into legacy.
